MCC meets together for worship every Sunday morning at 10.30am in Manor Mills Shopping Centre, Maynooth. Free parking is available in the Centre’s underground car park and our meeting place is on the 1st Floor. You can find directions by clicking here.
From week to week we have slightly different arrangements to our service with various people taking part in the different elements we include. There are two worship teams at MCC who provide the music in a rotating schedule. The music used is a mix of traditional hymns with contemporary praise songs and we try to hold these two elements together in a happy creative tension. Corporate sung worship has always been central in our tradition and this is something we very much enjoy developing and experimenting within our church.
Alongside music, our services usually include a children’s address. This is a short presentation about the teaching of Jesus that is aimed squarely at the children- although the adults often enjoy it too. Afterwards our children go out to their Sunday school class, called JAM (Jesus and Me), which is for children up to 3rd class. Our babies and toddlers can also go out to our creche which in the room next door.
During the service there are prayers for others, readings from the Bible and some liturgical or experiential elements that make up the service. We celebrate Communion together on the first Sunday of every month.
Every Sunday we read a passage from the Bible and study it in detail with the help of a sermon. Our messages at MCC are delivered by the teaching team or in some cases by guests (past guests have included folks like Scot McKnight, Marva Dawn and the Biblical scholar Craig Blomberg). They seek to faithfully unpack God’s word and to let it speak relevantly into our lives.
Our average service lasts about 75 minutes, from 10.30am until 11.45am. After this we have tea and coffee. This too is a very important part of our Sunday morning gatherings and most people stick around for quite a while to catch up with each other and chat. Newcomers to MCC are often struck by the vibrancy of the music, they are often challenged by the teaching, but this time of chatting together over tea and coffee is often the thing that strikes people the most.
All are welcome to join us on Sunday mornings. We would love to have you come and learn some more about this incredible message God has given to our world!
